Quilted Twins

Test Pattern #49 revision, part 4

I went ahead and finished the goals I posted for last week for my next update.

I had originally thought I would do it for Friday, But I ended up going ahead and doing it

I cut the 5” and 2” light gray squares as said (64 and 40).

I also made up the big blocks that will make the mainstay of the quilt.

For the first few updates, I had been making the parts that I needed.

However, it pretty much took most of the day - as I hadn’t made enough parts. In making up all the blocks, I needed to make up more HST, more regular 9 patch blocks and some of the special 9 patch blocks. Obviously, I messed up in a big way when I counted the blocks I needed. Or I was thinking something else? Not sure.

ANYWAY…

I made up 41 of these blocks.

I did not do my final pressing. I have that scheduled for Thursday as we are hoping to have a much cooler day on Thursday and these blocks need some thorough pressing.

I didn’t have enough of the parts, so I will need to update my requirements.

However, I did finish all 41 of the blocks.

With a sigh of relief, I put them all back into the bag along with the gray pieces.

For next week, I hope to have the cornerstones all made up - 40 of them. These blocks will look like this and will be involved as I’ll have to make up all those rather small HST using white and a bright color. For these, I will need to make up 120 of them before I put them together. They will be 5” at this point - as I will use 2” squares. Once finished in the quilt, they will be 4.5”

Once I get these cornerstones finished, the only block I will have left will be those yellow and bright sashing strips with the V blocks. But I’m not doing those yet. I’ll save them for last.

At the point those made - hopefully in two more weeks - then the last week I can put them all together and make the top. This diagram shows what I should have finished by the end of the next part.

This is the overall plan - shown on the right.

So, in short - for next time - the goal is to make up the 40 cornerstone blocks and to do a good pressing job on the main blocks.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
