Quilted Twins

"Autumn Impressions"

Well, coming on five years after I made this beautiful top, I finished it by quilting it!

Finally!

I finished this top back in November of 2019. It is made of all upcycled fabrics meaning the fabrics were either duvet covers, sheets, shirts, pjs, etc. I found most of the fabrics at local second hand shops. (I will admit that I’ve not actually been in one of those shops for a year or so now because I have so many of these fabrics!)

I really do like this pattern and this particular quilt. I know my husband will like it as well. We’ll keep this in our room.

I did make the backing out of second hand pieces and as a result, it is kind of crazily colored. Part of it is so wild that you can see that slight orange color on the front as I hang it up on the line. It is better when lying flat on a surface, however. The shadow of the backing isn’t noticeable when it isn’t up on a line.

I do like how it turned out, however. I am pleased to have finished this one, however!

Finally! Such a sense of relief!

The pattern has already been on the website, so all I had to do was update the picture and reupload the pattern. It’s here if you are interested. It’s one of our free patterns!

I like everything about this quilt. I’m giving it a 9.5/10 simply because once I start giving 10/10, well, where can I go from there? I am sure there are things I could have done differently with this one, but I really believe this one is a hit for me.

Of course, it has that chain look with the courthouse steps block creating the contrasting open area for the pinwheel with its quiet background. I shouldn’t be surprised that I like it, right? I like chain quilts, remember?

So there you are - this is one of my favorite recently finished quilts.

I could have saved this until this fall to share it, but I really don’t do that. I mostly just share things when I finish them - no matter if it is that time of the year or not! :)

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading!
