I have been having some problems with my computer - just started when I’m supposed to be doing blog posts.

So, since my husband is still out of town, and I’m not that great with fixing things, I may be doing very short blog posts until he gets back and we can figure out what is wrong.

So, if it continues, I will just continue to post a nice photo every day with a link to the pattern or a bit about the pattern if it isn’t my own. Maybe there will be an interesting story of why I decided to make that particular quilt.

Since I’ve got a short window of opportunity I’ll let this first post be this quilt.

I made this king sized quilt for friends who were in Turkey at that time. They were missionaries there, working with the people there who spoke Russian.

I had asked the wife what colors she liked and she said cappuccino brown and dark red. I searched all my fabrics and came up with this quilt. It took me a SOLID week of maybe 50 hours of piecing to put this one together. It is a row-by row design. I bought the pattern from Miss Rosie’s Designs or something like that. It isn’t available now, from what I’ve seen. I did just print out the pattern and taped it together until it was large enough as it was originally in about a 4x4 layout, which was a cute little size whereas I wanted a huge one.

I chose this pattern because my fabrics weren’t all that pretty but I had a variety in the color range. I knew that the design of the pattern could carry along the ugly fabrics (but in the right color) and it would turn out fine.

I am very, very pleased with it - to this day. Why not? It has BOTH Granny Squares and a CHAIN! :) How could I not love it?

I remember after I showed this one on a website - Facebook, someone asked me what “line of fabric” I used. I thought it was a humorous question at the time because I wasn’t as aware of brands or lines of fabrics as I am now. I told that person that I just used whatever I had in the colors I was looking for.

This is also before I got my nice line up outside and my better camera.

I’m just glad I have this one nice picture of it. I know the couple still has it and uses it on a bed to this day! That makes me very happy!
