Quilted Twins

"Block it Off"

I was able to finally get this one finished! I think I must have made the top in 2021 or so as it is part of my 2” series.

This one is #82 in that series, in fact!

I used some 16 patches that I found in my sewing room that I will call low volume. They were already put together when I discovered them. (I had known they were there, though, but just kind of put out of my mind) and I just wanted to make something from them.

So I decided to add the red and black and just go with it with this design. Obviously the design is created by the sashing and cornerstone block. But I still do like it.

I did quilt it heavily with swirls and curls and I really like the quilting! It makes it a bit on the stiff side, however. Maybe after some washing it will soften up a bit.

More close ups.

The pattern is very simple. The blocks are just 16 patches, and as I mentioned before, the interest is gained with this one by the sashings and cornerstones - especially the cornerstone blocks.

I did write it and put it up here. I don’t expect this one ever to be a smashing success, but I do like it - in the end.

I’d give this one a 6.5/10. No reason for not being higher except that it is so simple that there isn’t anything extra to see or notice. I’m saving the higher of my own ratings for my complex patterns.

I do like the bold statement that this one makes. People who love this color combination might love this one.

Here is the quilt roll:

Oh - are you curious about this 2” series in its entirety? Here it is!

In compiling this summary, I discovered that I have several that I’ve never featured or written the patterns for. That will be taken care of as soon as I can.

The two that are not quilted yet are in the process of being quilted and bound now. This exemplifies part of my need to just take a bit and do what I’ve left undone for years now. The oldest of these unfinished ones is almost 7 years left unquilted. It’s past time.

So there you are - my 2” series to date. Is this gallery with 9 pictures across something you’d like to see bigger? If so, I can do that, along with put the names under each design. I didn’t this time, however.

Most of these are written up and are free patterns waiting for you. If they were so simple or on the other hand, so unique, that I didn’t think anyone else would ever do them, I did not make the pattern. As I mentioned above, there are several here that I’ve not made the pattern or shared the finished quilt - and I will rectify that soon.

Oh - I did take these pictures back in January when we had snow on the ground. It’s pretty much gone now.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are!
