Quilted Twins

"Candy Chains"

This was my first attempt at pictures on the day I wanted to get this one photographed. While I did like it - it wasn’t what I really wanted for my main picture of this quilt.

I waited a bit longer - maybe a couple more hours- and I got this picture after the sun was mostly blocked by trees or the neighboring house, etc. Now THIS is what I wanted. The first one was fun, though.

I named this quilt Candy Chains because to me it looks like candy with all these beautiful colors. I usually do not name my quilts based on the colors I used, but with this one - I couldn’t resist. It just looked like it to me.

Somehow working with these chain blocks just made me smile. I was able to pull strips from my 2.5” strips bags for both blocks. I thought the quilt worked.

For a true scrappy - I like how it turned out. I’m giving it an 7.5/10. It is very simple or I’d give it an 8/10. With two simple blocks like this - it’s very straightforward - which is fine, but I’m saving my higher numbers for a design that has a bit more to look at and digest.

That saying - this was a QUICK one. There are no sashings, no cornerstones and the blocks worked up very fast. It’s a great idea if you need a quilt in a jiffy.

I do like working with these colors when I’m feeling a little down.

Ok - maybe not depressed as that’s not really my problem - but in low light situations in the fall or winter - these colors give me a little pick-me-up.

I took this quilt to church with me when I needed to whittle down my quilts. Someone who wanted it took it and that makes me very, very happy!

Here’s the quilt roll.

I just quilted it with loops. I did that a lot early this year! It’s fast, works fine, looks nice and holds the quilt together well.

I wrote up the free pattern for you and it is on the website here.

Thank you again so much for coming along with us on this journey!
