“Granny’s Mustgoes” - using the leftovers from another quilt

This was the first of a couple I made using the cut off side setting triangles which were pieced blocks.

I had saved these pieces from Granny Square Folk - a quilt I really like! But then if it has the word “Granny Square” in it, I like it—that and “chain quilts” — they are my favorites among all the possibilities out there. I am not sure why, but certainly it is a great thing that everyone is not like me. That would make a boring world!

Anyway, I took the leftovers from this quilt and made giant half square triangles out of them and simply made a quilt.

I used blue for the half square triangles and a lighter aqua for the strips between the blocks for some fun effects.

When I was photographing this, a drip fell from the tree right on it but it was so cold outside, I didn’t want to take it back inside to wait to dry or redo the photos. I’m aware that this is a one-off. It’s simply an idea of how you can use cut off blocks if you happen to create any.

I did do one after this one - and it is called Unique. That’s here. I learned from this blue one how to make the second one better. In other words, I finished up the second one first. If that isn’t confusing to you, then I’m not sure what is.

I did take these photos back in January when we had snow in Poland!

Anyway I like it. I’m glad I saved the cut off pieces all together so they could be used in a single quilt.

I showed how I made this quilt top in a previous blog post.

I quilted this quite densely with swirls.

I learned from this one how to make the blocks more even - as I did in my second similar top - the one I call Unique.

Here are some closeups of the quilting.

This one is another one that I’m not sure what I’m going to be doing with it - but I’d like to find another home for it as well. I am really happy with how this one turned out, however. I don’t see myself keeping it long term simply because I have so.many.quilts. :)

So I’ll be looking for a new home for it - but I’m happy to give it away - and hopefully someone will love it.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
