Quilted Twins

New 2.5" strips top finished - no name yet

I did get another quilt top finished - this one uses 2.5” strips everywhere!

Here it is. It’s number 33 in my series of 2.5” strips friendly quilts I’m working on making. I realize that many, many of you have leftover strips or pieces you want to use up in nice quilts. I’m working on making up some for myself this year and will continue to share with you as I finish them.

I chose a different blue strip for each of these blocks. It takes 13 of the colorful squares and 12 of the white/cream for one block. This way one 2.5” strip x width of fabric (WOF) will give you all the squares you need for an individual block. So, think of it this way - one regular strip will give you the color you need for the checkerboard block (with some leftover).

I personally love the look that this one gives. I used strips from my blues 2.5” strips bag, but you could certainly use a Jelly Roll (Moda) or Rollie (Riley Blake), Strip-pies (Benartex) or 2.5” strips roll or a flat pack - or whatever your favorite company calls those things that contain 2.5” strips.

As I was working on it row by row before sewing the rows together.

The alternate block is gray. I love the look. I had considered using black but decided I wanted to use gray for a bit lighter look. This design would be nice in pastels as well. I think any sort of coordinated look in the alternate blocks is going to make this top look very, very nice.

Let me share with you the layout that uses gray and black instead of gray and white. It is pretty cool.

As I work on this series, let me share with you the finished tops and quilts so far in it. The one I’m showing today is actually #32 but that’s because I’m pretty far behind in making it all work out like I have on my file folders on the computer. But it is a constant work in progress. For example, there are 5 more quilted, bound and ready to be shown but the patterns aren’t ready so you only see the tops here - not the finished quilt. Also one is quilted but not bound. You can see I have no lack of work!

Thank you again for coming along with me on this journey! We do appreciate you all!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
