A Baby Quilt!
My daughter-in-law, Jessica, had given me some fabric while I was in the states that she liked for a possible baby quilt for her youngest daughter, Eleanor Violet, or Evie. I decided I wanted to get her quilt finished, so I did.
I consulted with Jessica about the deign and decided that a medallion quilt would be easy enough to finish. I also have to remember that this is technically a baby quilt, but really, the babies don’t care - but it’s really for the mom. After a few back and forths, this is what she decided she wanted.
When she gave me the fabric back in April, gave m a dark fabric and it is really pretty! I asked her to choose 3 other coordinating fabrics for me to work with. Then, when working up the design, we decided to add a bit of white to brighten it up! She gave me the light green, lavender and a coral.
I’ll show you some pictures as I worked on it. I did actually cut it out in the morning right after breakfast and had it quilted and bound by 7:30 pm. I knew it should be fast because it is pretty simple.
I did manage to finish it by 7:30 pm that evening - bound and everything except photographed.
I did get the whole thing photographed by the next day or two, I think it was.
Here are those photos.
Then a couple of side views.
Obviously I bound it in the coral as I tend to like a contrasting binding - usually.
Jessica had wanted to see someone put this Baby Milestone mat panel on the back of a baby quilt, so I did it on hers. It is one of those panels where you can measure progress of the growth of the baby. I managed to get it on crooked.
I told her that is the reason it is hard to make reversible quilts and I had a worse time doing this than if I had used my table to sandwich things. Using my long arm it was hard to see what I was doing. Now that I look at it, there are some things I could have done to minimize the issue, but I didn’t realize it until I was this crooked until it was completely done.
The quilt roll:
I did not write up this quilt for the free patterns page but I could do it without too much issue. If you want it, and want me to do so, I can - but I need to know someone wants it and would be able to use it.
So let me know in the comments.
Thanks again so much in coming along with me on this journey!
