Another 2.5” strips/squares quilt - nr. 41

I know that I’ve not been presenting these in any sort of order. Eventually when I get them all finished, numbered, named and patterned, they will be in the correct order.

In the meantime, I do have multiples of these started, so I am just giving this one a number I’ve not given my other already started ones.

Number 41 is simply BIG squares - they are 8x8 and that means 16” square blocks. Nice and big.

The humorous thig is that I’ve actually got another one going that is bigger than this one!

I’ve also done this type of thing before with my 2” series - only mine was with a big 9 patch block that was sashed with a lot of navy.

I named it Scrappy Meets Amish

Anyway, this one looks like this:

I already had a lot of these blocks put together and I located them in my sewing room and decided to use them! In fact, I was trying to decide what to use with them - they were already in sewn together strips. I did not have them pressed or cut into 2.5” strips yet, but that was pretty easy to do. That made this quilt a super fast one to put together since I already had the pieces ready to go. I decided to go bright by using the gold/yellow as sashing.

With this one, I actually didn’t make an actual border. In fact, I used sashing and cornerstones. I know that it was a bit more of a pain to put in cornerstones, but with such big blocks, I decided to do it anyway since I had the fabric and I had the desire to keep things straight which is what cornerstones are great for!

In the end, it’s a simple quilt idea, but certainly will use up a lot of your squares. And for me, I was able to get it together in a day or so because with such big blocks, I only needed 16 of them!

I have not written a pattern for this because it seems unnecessary. I cut the sashing strips 4.5”x 16.5” and the cornerstones 4.5” square. That’s it.

So there you are.

Here is the series so far.

Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
