NOTE: The Viewer’s Choice awards were decided independently of the Quilted Twins staff. All we did was tally the votes. So, one could win both Viewer’s Choice and our store’s prize.

ONLINE:

We really had no idea of how much response we’d get back to the online portion. I will say that I thought we’d have at least 40 or 50 since we sold 235 bundles, but we did get back 17 quilts, quilt tops or other entries. Some were disqualified for using too many different fabrics, or for not being finished. So, when all was said and done, we had only 14 or 15 qualified entrants, although we did show them all, because this was our first time to do this, and I wasn’t sure how to deal with upset entrants!

Due to the small number of entrants, Quilted Twins decided to stick with just the THREE top prizes that we had promised we would do, when we had no idea of the response.

So here goes:

First place: $150 gift certificate: Diana Collins.

Second place: $100 gift certificate: Bonnie Mylott.

Third place: $50 gift certificate: Terry Basel.

These were amazing, and each of you who submitted an entry, whether it was quietly disqualified or not will get a $5 digital gift certificate coming to you via email to use on a future order, as a thank you for participating!

VIEWER’s CHOICE AWARDS for ONLINE: went to #4, Diana Collins, by a very, very small margin over #2 Bonnie Mylott!

Diana will get a Layer Cake provided by QT Fabrics as a prize.

IN STORE:

The in-store portion was very, very hard. You all did an amazing job. Every quilt was quite different from the next. We found that quite fascinating since everyone had the basic 5 fabrics plus the same panel.

Not only do we know many of these people personally, we heard the fun stories as they brought them in. It has been a real joy to have this first-ever Challenge.

Since we had only 8 non quilt entries, and we felt that several of the non-quilt entries were especially spectacular, we opted to put all items into the same “big” category for the top 3 awards.

Once again, our choices are our choices. Partly, if you know our backgrounds, you’ll know that several of us sew, and some here at Quilted Twins do neither, but we all had input!

Second Place: $100 Gift certificate: #102. Kathryn Travers, for her quilted jacket.

Third Place: $50 Gift certificate: #135. Nancy Durgin, for her size 6 little outfit.

Best use of the additional fabric: $40 gift certificate: #146. Karen Gay. She used a blue truck in the center, with all sorts of fun features around the outside.

We couldn’t stop going back for another look: $40 gift certificate: #143: Brenda Headley and her polaroid. The staff kept looking at that polaroid camera again and again.

Tiniest pieces: $40 gift certificate to #104: Catherine Hernandez. Her log cabin blocks were made of the panel, complete with tiny red centers.

Most adorable creation: $40 gift certificate to: #101: Linda Kelley with the most adorable backpack we’ve ever seen.

Incredibly eye catching truck theme: $40 gift certificate to: #118 Janet Norman.

Perfection in Piecing: $40 gift certificate to #117 Jean Ferguson for her “All Roads Lead to Quilted Twins”.

I could go on and on and give out lots of awards, but I must stop.

We loved what you did, and appreciate all you’ve done to help this exhibit go well. We are in the process of immortalizing your creation on a YouTube Video, and each one who shipped us or brought in a quilt will get a $10 gift certificate to use in our store!
