Quilted Twins

"Cityscape"

I finally finished it!

I did get this top finished which was originally made last summer. It was part of my houses series where I was determined to start feeling comfortable with making house blocks/quilts. I wanted to learn how to make various styles. I can’t say that I’m a master at it, but after making as many as I have I see that there are many similarities among all of them.

I really like how this one turned out!

I decided to quilt this one with straight lines - but at differing distances so that if I did a few not quite perfectly it would be less obvious.

Plus, this one has a modern feel, so there’s that. Straight line quilting seems to go with that.

I drew on the white with a blue or orange washable Crayola marker which helped me keep things sort of straight.

The pattern I found as a freebie from Windham fabrics and is found here.

It was very quick to piece as the buildings are large.

I am pleasantly surprised with it. Most of you realize I tend to do a lot of SMALL piecing. This is the opposite of that.

However, because the buildings are obviously recognizable, I still like it.

I tend to gravitate to designs with small piecing because of the detail.

I did switch out the black windows for yellow and just left the doors black. The windows and doors are appliqued on.

And finally - the quilt roll:

And there you are!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
