Quilted Twins

"Mountain Sunrise"

I finished up this quilt which featured an amazing, but small bundle pack by my sister in the store. It featured fabrics by Abraham Hunter and I loved it. It was called Mountain Sunrise.

I happen to love Abraham Hunter as an artist. We have several beautiful panels and fabrics by this artist in the store.

I did add several fabrics to the fabric included in the bundle including navy, green and white.

But since my sis has no more bundle packs available, I will just show you the layout and give some general guidelines of sizes of what I did. I know that this quilt was specifically made with this bundle pack and would be hard to duplicate exactly.

So let me share with you the main layout. I won’t make up a regular pattern simply because there is no real need.

I did not put this in the pattern, but I did put a little 1” white strips around the blocks that went around the edge just to make them stand out from the border. It defined the blocks this way. This way once they were sewn, only a tiny 1/2” showed.

While I was working on this top, I really fell in love with this one. I am planning on keeping this one as a tribute to my husband’s roots in Alaska. The fabrics are gorgeous and I loved working with it. I’ll admit figuring out how to use both of these panels in the same top was a challenge. However, I do like my finished product. We’ll use it on our bed.

One of my very first quilts was a moose quilt and several years ago I donated it to my husband for using in his workshop. It was well worn already and a tied quilt and I knew I could do so much better.

I’m not really very emotionally attached to those early quilts. I’m sure some people are, but I just look at them and think how much improvement I’ve made. :) I don’t really mind moving them out of the house as you all know I’ve had a space issue.

I’d rather replace them with nicer ones.

While the bundle pack is no longer available, the two panels are.

They are here. You can click on the picture of the panel you are interested in and it should take you to the panel.

Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey!
