Last December, we hosted a book signing by Diane Murtha. During that experience, Julie, our bag instructor, had a “Big Idea.”

She decided to have a Horse Show in the room!

She looked around and saw how we had the room arranged and said, “I can do this. I can have a mini model horse show in this room.”

So, she went to work. She planned, organized, created and planned some more! She worked herself practically to death, and finally the big day got here.

On Saturday, June 15, 2024, we had our first major non-quilting/sewing/knife sharpening event in our room!

It was fabulous.

Before the event began, Julie and crew got in and cleaned the room thoroughly, moved around the tables, and set up a food buffet in the adjoining room, which is Ken’s play room! (Once the participants went into that room they got to see fabric! Lots of fabric!)

Since it was while the store was opened, we scored quite a few extra walk-ins, and we had a lot of fun as we took turns walking down and seeing these model horse collectors showing their horses and being judged on them as well!

We’re hoping that this is the start of some fun events in this room!

If you know of someone who needs to rent a room that has two equipped bathrooms, tables, chairs and a kitchen area, then have them contact us. We’ll be happy to rent the room out for part of a day, or a whole day.

Room rates are this:

If you want to “sit and sew” when others are sitting and sewing: $8/day (non exclusive use of the room for sewing and sewing related events only, unless you just need a non-quiet place to study!)

If you want the exclusive use of the room for an event - sewing or non-sewing related: $25/hour with a 2 hour minimum.

If you want to rent the room exclusively for the whole day, it’s $75.

You must contact me (Rachael) in order to rent the room, as I have to get it on the schedule. We’ve had private sewing retreats, private long arm lessons and knife and scissors sharpening events in this room.

But now we’re ready to invite the public in. Have a baby shower? Need a for an HOA meeting? What about just a giant family reunion that is a neutral zone? Any and all of these can be events where you need a meeting place!

The room comes equipped with 12 tables and 12 chairs. Kitchen includes a convection microwave, a coffee maker, kitchen sink and a refrigerator with freezer. Two full bathrooms also help alleviate problems that you have when you just have one bathroom!
