"Scrap Happy Houses" finished

I finished up Scrap Happy Houses - finally.

I made the top back in July of this year. It is a free pattern found on line provided by Marcus Fabrics.

I had struggled with how to quilt it, but I decided not to stress about it anymore and just get this one done. I made it very large - even though I really probably won’t use this one on our bed. It’s a queen size quilt about 96”x96”.

I tried to end up using Lori Holt colors for the houses, but I did end up using a variety of fabrics. I had fun with the skies and windows, etc.

Overall, it ended up being an easier quilt than I first thought.

I had searched for various free house patterns and this was one of the first ones I found.

It also was one of the first of the house quilts that I decided to make this year in 2024. The pattern shows it in browns, but I wasn’t in the mood to make such a somber quilt. I was going for bright and colorful.

I did make mine larger than most of the other house quilts I’ve made. I made the sashing pretty wide as well.

I decided in this particular stage in my life, I wanted to get many of my quilts finished - and they didn’t have to be ‘for a competition’ or any such thing. This meant that I wanted to get this one done. I have been guilty of not finishing a quilt or two because I was afraid I would ruin it when quilting it.

I have decided that for now, anyway, I want these finished more than I want to keep being paralyzed by indecision or fear. I came across a video by Pat Sloan that struck a chord with me. Let me share it with you.

In the end, I just quilted it with loops. I was thinking this was a rather ‘blah’ quilt but as I was hanging it on my line, the neighbor lady, Ela, saw me hanging it up and told me it was ‘beautiful’! :)

So, I guess at least one other person thinks it is pretty!!!

Maybe someone else would like to try this.

It would be nice also in the browns like the original pattern, I’m sure!

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing this house quilt!!!

Thank you again for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
