Charity Quilt progress UPDATE

Yes, I’m feeling it. So. very. close now!

First of all this is where I went to make some flat space in my room in the church for storing quilts. I needed this so I can begin finishing them and have a place for them. They can be stacked on the totes. They probably won’t be there long as I want to have a give away in early-mid November, so I am pushing myself to finish these! But I do need a place even if it is only a week or two. I can’t keep them in my living room as I finish them. I need to move them out and away from my home. That’s part of the fun and sense of accomplishment.

The purple tote and green trunk are full of reqdy to quilt tops. The plastic totes are full but things still need work. Howevr, I cleared out a lot of tops that were ready THIS year, so I'm feeling really good about that. That makes me feel like working on getting many of these other tops finished to the right size and back in the roon.  What you are seeing in the bags are things that mostly aren't the right size (yet) for me.  But I've been okay as I've had so many already ready to go.  I am just now getting to the end of all of my Big Fabric Hault quilt tops which took place in 2017!!!!!!!!!!!  The tops weren't all made back then, but it's been a little while.

Naturally this is just the quilting part done - and not all the rest, but frankly, I really like the binding - and the labels are all already made, so after the quilting and trimming part, the rest does seem to go quickly. I’m planning on using up all those already cut and folded up binding pieces. I’ve not bound any yet, but am considering it. But not really.

I don’t want to get sidetracked - and I’ll let myself finish getting these all quilted AND then take a photo of them all in my living room before I start binding! :) It is kind of fun to see them all stacked up.

LOL

I hope they will stay stacked up for the photo. As I’m writing this, however, I still have 15 left to quilt and even more to trim.

(Note - I have now trimmed them all - added the day after I wrote the sentence above.)

I’m working hard every day on these now. I’m feeling like I really to get these finished! finished.

I didn’t remember exactly when I started on these, but the first picture I can find is from September 20. I don’t even remember taking some the photos. I think I’ve been in a different zone. I’ve been heading to the long arm room right after breakfast and giving it my best effort early in the day either until I have to go fix dinner or we head out to eat.

The first picture shows how I already had a lot of backings ready and cut so I could just “grab them” and put them on the machine. Obviously, these go with the the approximately 60”x80” tops I aim for the single size quilt tops I have.

You can see here I am down to only 10 left to quilt!  Yeah!

Here’s my chart. I took this picture right when I was working on trimming the ones I hadn’t trimmed yet.

You can see here that that first quilt is on the bottom of the pile shown here. That indicates it was the first.

Here are some pictures of what I’ve been working on. I’ve upped my quilting of them from 3/day to 4 or 5 or even 6/day. And yes, I’m ready to be done! I’m just doing a simple loop. I think that’s enough quilting to hold these together. I am feeling the need to get done as our days are now getting chillier.

Let me show you the forecast. This is in F, naturally, for you, the reader, even though we use C pretty much all the time while here in Poland.

Here are the quilts stacked up in the living room. This is 110. I had another phone call today from a social worker who told me that she knows several people in our area who would benefit from a quilt. I told her I was working on them.

You can see these are not bound. :) Yet.

So now you know. This is where I am. I’ve been working long hours every day on this in order to get them finished!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this
