I finished number 4 blues top a couple of weeks ago now.

I'm calling it "Peek-A-Boo" since the design makes me think of the game "Peek a Boo" that you play with little kids and your fingers, kind of hiding your face behind your hands and then moving your hands and saying "Peek a Boo!" and little kids squeal with laughter.

The cream sticking out behind the tan makes me think of that game. Not sure why, but it does.

This one uses plain 6.5" square blocks.

Then, I saved out my solid dark men's shirts and made the hourglass blocks for the alternative blocks. The tan - that is a sheet from Goodwill that I picked up when we were in the states in September. Yes, I couldn't help myself. I think I paid about $3.99 - didn't have time to wait for a sale, but I wanted that particular color and that Goodwill had several of them - all cotton.

Some Goodwills are better than others. This one had the motherlode of cotton sheets. I was just stickign with the tans, though. (In Mesa, AZ)

This one meets the stamp of approval from my husband, so it must be "guy approved". Here is the other other block - or at least the effect when the hourglass blocks come together and enclose a plain square:

This one really wasn't hard - I'm not sure I'm crazy about hourglass blocks, but they weren't hard at all - The hardest thing about this one is the on point setting with sashing and cornerstones. It seemed to take forever to put together.

As a result, the NEXT one I made (you've not seen it yet) has no sashing and no cornerstones and has BIG BLOCKS!

You can leave out the sashing and end up with a much more simple quilt - but equally as effective. There is one dimension missing, but it works very well as well. Let me show you the EQ drawing of it.

I seriously considered making this one, but decided to add the sashing and cornerstones and make it a bit more complicated for myself. However, you can use the pattern and make the blocks the same size, but just leave out the sashing.

This is the first time I've made hourglass blocks. I am just beginning to see their usefulness!

Just to review - this is top number 4 made from my upcycled blue fabrics.

I had far too many - I had 6 boxes of them when I really only want to have 2! I decided to keep making tops until I can get it all into 2 plastic tubs.
