Crumbs project update

I spent the minimum time this weekend working on my project.

Why? Well, my upcycled blues project is kind of overtaking my life.  I really NEED to get those blues off the dining room table. I have two kids coming to visit us over the Christmas break and I need my table back. And I really don't want to just put them back somewhere and pull them out again. I'm trying to just push through and get them down to 2 boxes. The good news is, I am making good progress towards that end (of only having two boxes of blues left).

So...that project has taken priority right now.

But I did "one good sewing session". But that's all. Sometimes I spend hours and hours on this project. Not this time.

1. I made one more paper pieced scrap block. In doing so, however, I saw that I trimmed the first one I made too closely. In effect, this means I still have only one good block finished.  Oh well. It's a long project in the works. At least this second block did go faster than the first one I did.

2. Made 7 4.5" crumb centers for the blue crumbs/scraps quilt top I started last weekend. I need a total of 16 - I had already made 2, so that leaves 14 more. I made 7 this weekend. I don't want to finish working on the blocks yet as I might need the navy blue for other blues projects - so I guess I'm kind of waiting on myself to do things in the right order.

It was a very "light" weekend.  I didn't feel like I had much time this weekend - not sure why, except maybe it was making up pot pies from the leftover turkey from the weekend before - they take a long time (for me) to make.  I use the Betty Crocker recipe from my orange Betty Crocker cookbook.. I also made a type of cheesecake that took quite a while on Saturday, had to shovel snow, build fires, etc.  Time just flew each day - and it's not because I was spending so much of it on the computer each day!

My three turkey pot pies. The big one will be for when my 2 college age kids come back in a couple of weeks. We'll eat the other two all by ourselves as my husband and I like it.

And now you know!  It's a pretty simple report. But some days are just like that!
