"Test Pattern #49"
This is number 49 in my 2" strips series and number 2 out of 3 in my mini series using this block.
The first, one in the series, "Blades of Color" was simpler, however the main block was the same.
There's a lot to consider as you look at this quilt I hope you can see the gray circles that are created by the gray sashing sections. If you are looking at it on your phone, it may not be visible. I wanted a slightly darker gray to help define that area, but didn't have any - or not enough of what I had to do this. So I decided that a subtle effect would force the looker to look harder!
LOL.
I tried to tone down the busy-ness of it by making definite design lines and quieter areas.
This one does use up a lot of your 2" strips but you will need other sizes of pieces as well.
The third one in this series will also explore the idea of color to change the look. I also didn't use the 54/40 or fight block for a change. Hopefully I can finish that one up this next week.
For the backing, I used a piece I bought in Morocco. I thought it was a perfect fit colorwise.
The pattern is here.
Enjoy!
I quilted this one with wool batting. I am quite pleased with it as I didn't quite know what to expect since it was the first time I have used it.
Make sure you check out the goodies my sister just put up for you!
