Cultural: Our Polish squirrels
Compared to the scrawny gray Florida squirrels I grew up around, our red Polish squirrels are huge!
My son, Tim, is a very good photographer, and he and his wife have been noticing these creatures since they arrived in March. He graciously told me I could use his pictures for my blog post -
So, thank you, TIM!
(All of these pics are Tim's pictures!)
They noticed that our Polish squirrels often have little tufts on their head.
Tim and Claire gave this friendly squirrel a strawberry. He graciously posed.
We seem to have a lot of them in our area. We live in the woods, and so do they - so these guys are all over. They can easily jump from limb to limb across our yard, never actually needing to hit the ground.
The squirrels that I grew up with and around in FL seemed smaller than these - and definitely gray. These guys seem very big! of course, we have bigger and smaller ones - but they seem in general to be at least 1/3 bigger - full grown - than the ones in central FL at my mom's place.
These blocks are often used when people want grass to grow up between them but they still need a sort of hard surface for stability - or erosion control - or parking.
This guy posed pretty nicely for my son!
Thank you, Tim, for the use of your pictures!
And now you know - what our squirrels look like. This isn't exactly "quilting", but it is definitely ""Polish culture"! Enjoy!
