Epic Buying Trip 2, part 1 - the Moda lobby area and main warehouse

Now that it’s been more than a month that we were at the Moda warehouse in the Dallas, TX area, I figure it’s time to show you some of the pictures we took.

Getting there was unremarkable - we flew out of Tampa airport and into the Dallas one. We rented a car and headed for the hotel, which was only a few miles from the warehouse.

We arrived at the warehouse reasonably early the next morning after we flew in. We arrived at the building - looked like this.

This is just to prove that WE were there.

This was the lobby area and the receptionist’s desk. When we first got there, no one was there!

The whole entrance area was super nice. You could tell that it was meant to give all of us visitors a great impression of Moda fabrics - with quilting in mind! Very impressive!

I have to say that these two quilts that you see when you first walk through the door - 100% wonderful!

There is an alcove type of place where you can sit and rest after being in the warehouse. They have samples from all their products.

in a little nook displaying their notions and other things were some pretty quilts!

We made contact with Brian and he took us back to the warehouse. We started by taking this overall picture with Brian, our guide.

We didn’t know who Brian was, until finally Rachael asked him his relationship to the company. We then found out he was the son of the founder of Moda. I think we both felt a little stupid.

The picture above is an overall shot, but here we are down on the ground.

We took our carts and started up and down the aisles looking for fabrics that were at our price point.

Here is my cart with a pile of bolts!

When we filled our bolts we were supposed to bring them back and park them here and they would put them neatly into big metal carts.

I was thrilled to find some of Pat Sloan’s fabrics!!! It felt neat since I’d never bought any of her stuff before. I’m a member of her Facebook group!

Here are some more bolts of fabric in a cart that we just piled and left.

We had a set amount of money we had budgeted, but really didn’t know how much we were spending. We were hoping we were keeping it under budget. (We did fine.)

At this point we were finished with our regular shopping and going off to check out the notions, cork fabric and precuts.

When we felt like we had covered the whole place - all the aisles and checked all the fabrics at our price point, we decided to stop and take a lunch break.

Brian had offered us a tour of the other building a bit later. We wanted to get off our feet and kind of recover from our serious shopping!

So that is what we did.
