"Hawaiian Dreams"
I’d been wanting to make a quilt with a Hawaiian theme. While I do have some other Hawaiian fabrics, I used this opportunity to go ahead and do it!
This is number 33 in my upcycled blues series. While it contains many other colors besides blue, all the fabrics are upcycleds. I had to spend a while collecting these nice bold colors needed to go with the Hawaiian shirts I found!
I wanted to leave the floral section of the shirts large because I love these large bold florals. So I did.
I was struggling with the wind here and didn’t have the patience to get a really good picture of the back - I mean I didn’t have the patience for the wind to die down.
The backing had to be compiled - from various second hand fabrics I had. Most of these were actually leftover partial backings - that’s why they were such narrow strips.
The florals are amazing - I love these designs. I guess my Floridian roots are showing! (I was born in FL and my mom is in FL, etc.)
Of course I “fussy cut” these prints to get the section of the shirt I wanted.
This one was a long time coming. For some reason I didn’t want to actually make the top - so it was one of the last one of the upcycled blues series I finished up. Then I decided to not wait so long to actually finish it up.
Because the design is actually simple, it may be boring to look at. However, the beautiful florals keep me interested!
Now that I am finished with it, I am smitten. Maybe I’ll put it on our bed for a while!
I have updated the pattern with a new picture and it is on the free patterns page. I also updated the picture in the upcycled blues series page on the website.
I hope someone can use the pattern!
The quilt roll!
And this is one of the things that’s been keeping me busy!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
