"Swingin' Checkerboards"
All finished!
This is number 64 in my 2” series of quilts using primarily 2” strips and squares; I began the series in the summer of 2015. The last year and a half I’ve taken quite a hiatus from it while focusing on mostly the upcycled blues series.
However, I’m flooded with more scraps: So I need to get back to getting them under control. I really just need about 30 hours in a day. But then I’d need some serious energy to be able to use it! I kind of tucker out by the end of the day!
Here is this one:
A little closeup with the colors.
I think my idea about using off white on one side of the rail fence and a white on the other didn’t really pan out - as I used so many different ones and the varying shades of white/off whites were so difficult to place/see. Not sure that I should have bothered, actually. But I did use both white and then a darker off white in those blocks. You can see them, but not a definite pattern. That is because I had so many different colors/shades.
Here are a couple of pictures that you might find interesting - the first one is the quilting “in process”. The second picture is after it is washed. You can see the difference in the crinkles. Fascinating, huh?
You can see that I did quilt it extensively with circles and swirls. Seriously time for me to go on to something else. I guess it is time to check out YouTube for some more pictures of ideas for all over designs. I figure most of these scrap ones really don’t show the quilting from a distance so there isn’t a lot of point to doing extensive special free motion quilting - as I doubt much could be seen. (At least that’s what I’m saying!) LOL
It was so pretty today - and the colors so springy and cheerful - I like it!
The quilt roll:
I did update the pattern with a new picture and put it back on the free patterns age.
I think they are kind of cool! That’s really the only reason I like to put the pictures in these blog posts!
Because the colors are so springy and sort of soft, it doesn’t show up as well from a distance - but the view was nice today. Thought you should see it.
i did update the pattern and put it back on the free pattern page with current pictures.
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
Colors may vary slightly from what is portrayed. Screens vary as well as our eyes sometimes see things differently, but we've made every attempt to have the color be accurately portrayed.
