2019 Charity Quilts #101-110
I got the next set of 10 all finished and photographed!
Here they are!
You can see that I decided to just go ahead and finish up several from the “Big Fabric Haul” - those brown ones.
I am certainly curious how popular they are going to be when it comes time to give them away. I will have my eye on them for sure!
I was pretty eager to get these out of the house by about now. They were really filling up my living room and all over, really. I took these and the last group over to the church building at the same time, but took this picture by itself so I could show you.
See…sometimes people forget that “making the quilt” isn’t really the end. I think I’ve mentioned it before, but after I make the top (or you give it to me), obviously I have to actually sandwich and quilt it, bind it, wash it - let it dry, photograph it, fold it, and then take it to the building and carry it up the stairs and place it there where they can wait until I am ready to give them away. Giving them away is another “thing” altogether.
Getting them to the place where they are are kept involves a not-very-long drive to the church building (5-10 min without traffic- 25 min if I have to stop and start and stop and start due to lots of cars so obviously I try to go when there is no traffic). I carry about half of them up the stairs at once - just for safety’s sake as the storage area is upstairs in my room that I have been given for such things.
I mentioned it before - but I have actually finished them all as of this writing, but I’ll show you the last group next week plus the whole pile in the room where they are being stored.
It’s a pretty amazing sight! Can’t wait to share it!
I will add that my left wrist is feeling a lot better. I had some soreness in it when I was working the hardest on this and it bothered me that it was happening, so I bought a wrist support. I’ve been using it a lot - not all the time, but much of the time when quilting or sewing, or binding. Whenever I feel the pressure on the left hand. When it was the worst was when I bound a bunch in one day. I think it was the way I was putting pressure on the left hand as I worked since I do all machine binding!
So, I’m pretty happy about that. I still feel it from time to time and I’m hoping that I will completely quit “feeling my wrist” - I mean, do YOU feel your wrist? I mean, usually you don’t actually notice the parts of your body unless something is wrong!
I was commenting about this to my husband and he just kind of grimaced and said that yes, he “feels” his knees all the time - but not his wrists! (Poor guy!)
Anyway…have a great day, wherever you are reading this!
