Beige Wedding Quilt - Day 2
I have planned to take 2 days to get the scrappy blocks done - I need 56 of them for the alternate blocks and the setting triangles.
I decided I need to get them half way done - by the end of the day.
I started off by cutting a bunch of 2” strips for my block that is going to be half light/half darker beige.
This one is tricky. I need the light beige to be noticeably darker than white, but not too dark and I need the dark beige to not appear too brown. I did the best I could. I guess the dark ones do look brown. I’m going for an overall look!
I usually make my half square triangles using paper.
For some odd reason, I decided to just make them via the cut big and trim down method today. It seemed to take forever!
I did not make all 280 before I started making rows.
I have a few already made for the last two rows of this block. I am doing one row at a time of all 56.
I am strip piecing and then cutting. I’ll show more pictures of that tomorrow.
This is how far I got. My goal was to get them half done. I was able to get a bit more than half done - as I just have two rows left on these blocks. I am 3/5 done.
What took the most time by far was creating these little jewels. I started with a square of 3” just to make sure I didn’t short myself when I went to trim down to 2”. I’ll show the steps tomorrow as to how I made them.
I think I’m in good shape to be able to reach my goal.
The key will be - I’m going to try to do some more painting in our dining room area. We’ve finished up the living room part - not a lot of wall got covered, but we finally got the walls looking all the same color. The paint apparently isn’t all that great (Dulux brand) - we had to give it three coats with a roller - and then do some touch up. While the paint has definitely gotten a better quality than when we first came to Poland, we aren’t necessarily impressed by the quality of the paint we can buy here.
Where it may profess to be “one coat” - that’s a joke.
Anyway…that’s not really for this post.
But that’s what I’ve been doing on this quilt!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
