Beige Wedding Quilt - Delivered!
I suppose I should “finish the story” with a “It’s delivered/gifted” photo shot!
So here it is in the short version.
We squished it up and fit the whole works in one carry on bag. We were allowed 8 kg max for each carry on. That’s 17.6 lbs.
I put the whole set in mine. We were only going for a total of 36 hours so I didn’t really need to take many clothes as I could wear the same skirt for travelling and being at the wedding itself (a black one) and for church Sunday am when we landed in Poland. We needed to get back in order to handle our normal duties at our church.
So, I did that. My suitcase came in at 7.75 kg so I was pretty close to the 8 kg limit. I gave my husband anything else I needed to carry. We used those shrink bags on the quilt on one side of my carry on and the pillows in the other side.
We flew out at 11 pm and arrived at 1 am Ukraine time (we lost an hour).
We had arranged for a driver to meet us and take us to the hotel.
As soon as we got in the room, I released the quilt and pillows from their “squished up state” so that hopefully by time we got up and headed to the wedding, things would be “puffed back out”.
It worked. Everything was fine in a few hours.
I had brought along two long ties (2.5” strips of some off white) of fabric - so that it could at least look somewhat like a “present”.
We gave them the gift during the presentation of gifts to the couple in a receiving line at the reception venue.
My husband has known the girl since she was a small baby. Her father had been a student of my husband’s from before he and his wife were married.
(For those of you who don’t know, my husband regularly teaches intensive, short courses for various schools - Old Testament/Theology mostly). Her mom had been one of my husband’s first translators in that particular Bible school in Bila Tserkov, Ukraine.
Mission accomplished!!
Thank you so much for following along on this journey!
(We flew back at 6 am Ukraine time, and arrived in Poland at 6 am - we got our hour back. We were able to get to our car and stop on the way home for some breakfast and were back in our home at 7:45 am. I head out the door at 8:45 am to go on my Sunday morning run to pick up people. :) We made it with an hour to spare!)
Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
