The real reason
The real reason I’ve not been posting many of my personal quilting posts is …well…
But the main one is this.
We’ve (Ahem…not really ‘we’ - more like ‘my husband’) been doing some remodeling on the floors.
And it makes a mess.
Let me show you.
We have one third of the floor of the main floor to finish. My husband had done the kitchen area while I was in the states and just did another part of it this past week. But in the meantime, things are a mess.
It’s chaotic. Everything is where it’s not supposed to be.
But it’s beautiful when finished!
Anyway, we decided to tackle the dining area next. This is where my big table normally is - where I can cut easily and sandwich, etc. Yes. (That’s how all this is related to quilting!) Actually lots of things have happened at that table through the years - eating lots and lots of family meals, jigsaw puzzles, games, tying quilts, sandwiching quilts, etc.
I guess I should be specific. My role was to help move “stuff” and then to stay out of the way.
First my husband sanded everywhere.
Then he sanded again. He wanted to take off the top, dirty layer of wood. He had to be careful as it is only a thin layer of beech, I believe.
Then he started to put on the varnish. We had to take a few hours and go get some more as he didn’t have enough. We had to drive to another town to get it.
More varnishing
Getting there with the first coat!
After three coats. Between the other coats he sanded lightly and then wiped it and then put on another coat.
Now we need to move this mess to the side that is finished so he can get going with this final side. This is where I normally take pictures of my tops. While I’ve got all this stuff “out”, I’m hoping to go through and get rid of about 1/3 of it all. Might as well. There is a whole lot of stuff that is no longer useful for my family since we have gone from 7 down to 2.
And now you know! Hopefully this week this side will be varnished as well! I’ll be sure to show you!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
