2019 Charity Quilts #71-80
Here’s the latest installment!
I will probably have to add another row to this pile of quilts - as I will have 50 more quilts to put in here and I can’t stack them that high on these three piles without them all crashing down (I’ve tried it before in other years - when I came back into the room I had a huge mess of quilts!). So a fourth column will be started on the left - taking pictures will be harder!
I’m getting close to running out of the labels I had made previously, so I’ve started to make more of those on my embroidery machine. I need to make sure I do that at ‘other times’ when not making these quilts.
It is so much nicer when I have a box of them ready to go before I get going on extensive charity quilts! I’ve been procrastinating - trying to see how long I could go without needing more. Sigh. I had really needed more of these brownish- tannish ones for the backs of some of the Big Fabric Haul quilts I am finishing up now. I didn’t have any of that colorway left.
I have everything I need to do it- the fabric - I’ve started using kind of “yucky stuff” (fabrics - old used to be white tablecloths, etc.) , lots of thread, and the stabilizer - all no problem! It’s just a matter of doing it. The machine works quietly, so it’s really not a big deal. I suppose it’s just one of those things - it’s just ‘another thing to think about’!
Anyway…here is a shot of some of the bindings! I really prefer using stripes - but have added plaids and checks to that. They look cool!
I made a couple of trips lately with quilts to the church building—just trying to keep them from taking over my living room! First, this group of 10 on Thursday.
Then, this group of 10 on Sunday: These are actually the ones for this week - numbers 71-80.
Is it starting to feel like a “wall of quilts”? I actually love it in there - it’s so bright, pretty and full of potential to brighten people’s days!
That’s it for this update! Eighty completely finished so far this year! Am excited. I can kind of feel the end in sight! I say that because even though 80 are completely finished - another 10+ are quilted and ready to bind which leaves fewer than 30 left to quilt.
That is exciting! Really exciting. I love how they look as finished quilts - and I think that little Adrenalin rush I get when I finish one and get it washed and get to put it in the pile is partly what keeps me going on this project! Maybe I shouldn’t admit that. I suppose some of you think I’m an angel for doing it - you didn’t realize I get these little “highs” just from making them! I do, though - with these though - it’s the FINISH I love!
And now you know!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
Pumpkin status -
I’ve been giving them away - and I cooked a few on Saturday. I’m down to under 15 left of the 90 I had.
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
