"Number 78 Special" - finished
This is number 78 in my series of 2” strips and squares quilts.
All finished!
Whew!
Actually I finished it a while ago - but just haven’t had the pattern made up yet so I’ve not shown it.
When I was making this one, I was just in the mood for BRIGHTS - so I decided to go with it!
I wanted to go ahead and use up some low volume or pastels or just light colored strips as the lights and worked at not using a simple white or cream. Of course, using a plain color would make it a much quieter quilt and possibly easier on the eyes.
It’s up to you, of course.
The quilt is made up of two main blocks - a square block - and a churn dash block. Then the two pieced sashing unit makes the squares block look a bit bigger than it is by the placement. I tried to use a bright cornerstone as well just to give the quilt pop.
I am still trying to whittle down those 2” strips I have - though I’ve not worked on them since some time in August, I believe, as I went to town on Upcycled Blues, then some fall quilts and now a lot of charity quilting is happening at home.
This one uses a lot of 2” strips.
You could make this one with pastels - let me show you the layout how it could look with a pastel look!
See how demure and sweet it looks in pastels? So pretty!
Let’s check and see what it looks like with Civil war prints: Pretty cool, huh? (I love the program!)
But those aren’t what I did. I decided on brights - so bright I did!
Here’s mine - a close up of the blocks:
I always like to show the quilt roll as you know:
So how do I feel about this quilt?
Well, I think I like it better NOW than just after I made it but it doesn’t “speak to me” like some I do.
Maybe in time it will.
Sometimes that happens as well.
For now, it’s about a 5.5/10. (That’s a very arbitrary designation, BTW!)
The pattern - it’s here! I hope someone can use it.
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
