"Quiet Moments" - #79 2" strips project top finished!

The inspiration for this one was a charity quilt top I got in the mail earlier this year.

I even made this one with hot pink surrounding the white/cream section just like that one.

This is the charity quilt top that was donated to me. It is not a recently made top! At least that is my guess from how it feels and looks.

This is how the charity quilt top I received looked.

The one I was gifted was probably quite old - my guess - from the 70’s (not really old - I was a teenager! but old for a top, if you know what I mean!)

So, using this one was my inspiration, I decided to try to do something a bit different and put sashing strips only across the horizontal.

This charity one looks like it was made row by row. I couldn’t really figure out how they did it unless it was row by row. Whatever..it was done by hand.

block 1.jpg

All this top is is a block that is a 7x7 block with the color in this placement and then the other block is a 7x7 block that is a pure scrappy one!

But what makes irregular, is that I added sashing to only the horizontal position - not the vertical places.

The layout looks like this:

The little blocks are the sashing block which is a 7x2 block. All scrappy squares.

So there you go! This one used a lot of random scraps! I need to make about 10 more like it! I think I could do it again with a bit of variety in that square that creates the design. In fact, I might do it once again, but on point - the end result would make a square-ish looking design.

The basic pattern is here. My Word program seems really sluggish and I’m trying to figure it out - but for now, it’s up on the free patterns page.

I also put this top in with my 2” strips project page. Did you realize I had one? If you didn’t, you can go see the whole project, from beginning to current here. If there is a pattern, you can click on the picture and the pattern will show up.

Hope that helps!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
