"Field of Wonky Stars"
I was able to jump right on this quilt top and finish it up this past week!
Fun. It was a simple quilt to make and because I used 2.5” strips and squares - mostly strips - it was relatively quick and easy to put together. I just featured the top last week so many of you remember it.
I had wanted to go ahead and finish with the quilting of it right now as well.
I’ve been able to whittle down a lot of my excess numbers of quilt tops that I’ve had sitting around. I’m grateful actually.
While I tend to classify "a finished quilt top’” as a different type of UFO (unfinished object) as a bunch of blocks, I don’t really like having oodles and oodles of tops that haven’t been finished yet.
I have enough of those as charity tops. I do have a lot of those - and make more of those each month (Big Fabric Haul).
Anyway. I quilted this with loops and stars. I kind of smiled to myself as in various places, if you look at the top, you will see stars on three levels - first of all, the wonky stars, then the star fabrics and then the stars in the quilting.
I guess if you aren’t a fan of stars, this is one quilt you will need to just simply “not look at”.
I made nice wide sashing on this - it is cut 4.5” wide which means those cornerstones are 4.5” squares (before being sewn into the quilt top).
The nice thing about having cornerstones so large means that you can actually piece them and they are still ‘do-able”.
The quilt roll is here!
I am having a hard time focusing right now but will get the pattern up ASAP - today, I believe, if I haven’t by the time you read this - check back soon. (It’s up now - left that that note just so you can see that at times I have an awful time focusing and don’t get what I want to done!)
It will be (is) on the Free Patterns page..
When I wrote about how I made the top, I showed pictures step by step of how to make the wonky star points but this way it will be all shown on paper - not only the internet. Some people want/need it that way!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Stay safe!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
