Amazing work! A LOT done over the weekend!

I packed in some quilt tops to bring with me to Poland when I flew over just over a week ago now. These were things that I just “wanted done” and they had been hanging around unfinished for some time now. They were all small. All were things I didn’t really know how to quilt.

Diane had had contact with me after my making the argyle bargello and said she would quilt it. I got to thinking about it since I had only ever had one of my quilts long armed to date. I told her no, then it would be in the states, and I think I wanted that one for my bed -at least for now.

But this time, my sis and I agreed to ask her/them to quilt up these small tops I brought along with a You Are My Sunshine top I had made since being here.

They came here to the shop on Thursday, and picked all 7 tops up. We talked about what we wanted done, and then told her I didn’t really need step by step pictures- as that’s just not really what I need or who I am. If I find someone I trust to do work, I let them do it. I don’t need to be following up, changing my mind, confusing someone, as they work.

So, I gave them a bag of tops/matched with backings and off they went.

Imagine my surprise when they contacted Rachael today (Sunday) saying they had them all done and wanted to bring them up to us this afternoon. They prefer coming when there aren’t many in the shop! So, we agreed on a time and they brought in the quilts. Now I have to finish up 5 of the tops, but they went ahead and finished up the two You are My Sunshine tops including binding. I would have done it, but since she offered, we took her up on it. They are going to be featured in the store, advertising their long arming business - so we are pleased with that.

Here is the pile of quilts that they finished over the weekend.

Today the only one I am featuring in its entirety is the You Are My Sunshine one because it is done - all the way finished! I don’t really like to show the quilts I make until they are bound.

So they will be “featured” in the next few days! Then I will show you their amazing quilt up close and unique!

The first one I’m showing you is one Rachael made up over a year ago now, I suppose. Well, she got it almost done. I helped her finish up a problem she had - and put the outer border on. But these are all official Timeless Treasures “You are My Sunshine” prints. Sadly, Timeless Treasures it out of them - but they are on backorder. If we get more, my sis will have a bundle/pack/kit that you can order something like this to make.

They quilted this with bees and flowers. It’s adorable! I asked Diane how much this would cost one of you to quilt. She said it would be $80 for the quilting and $25 for the binding so a total of $105. Generally speaking they start their quilting …

Even though Diane and Jeff didn’t ASK for a blog post- we decided that their work deserved one - their speed, their quality and their friendliness and professionalism is exactly what you may need. They have two big machines and each of them can work on one quilt - so they can be doing them simultaneously. they have large Handiquilters - Amara and Forte. I’ve never really done much with a long arm, so I can’t really tell you too much about the details. And, truthfully, as long as the work is good, I don’t really care what machine it is done on.

They do computerized long arm quilting and they will make quilts to order. You can contact them at 937-219-4203. Their business name is DJ Quilts. They are located in Lakeland, FL, but will ship and work with tops from all over!

Here’s the front of their business card.

I’ll be featuring the rest of these quilts as the days go by. In the meantime, I’m sharing a photo of my granddaughters - just because.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!

Be sure to check out what Rachael has for you in the store!
