The Blue Bargello delivered!

Many of you know that I made a blue Surf Song bargello for some friends of ours here in Florida. I was able to deliver it the first Sunday I was here,

They were very happy!

Since we have people who are new reading here on any given day, let me rehash the details.

For several years now I’ve been trying to make a quilt for someone in ministry - who has been in the full time ministry for years - possibly someone who has not been on the receiving end of either a lot of money or much by the way of gifts. And probably no quilts.

Over 10 years ago now Dan and Luanne were able to visit Poland, She reads the blog quite often- if not daily and has always like the Surf Song quilts I’ve made - the bargello. Last year I decided that I would make hers for the 2020 special gift I am trying to do. Both Luanne and Dan have been involved in Christian higher education. Both have PhD’s in English. As a result of that, when I made the label, I didn’t want to put their names “The Drs. Dan and Luanne,” etc on the label. I just left it without their title.

She wanted blue - royal blue! Since there needed to be a second color, she chose the aqua colors.

I had thought I would bring it over in my carry on, but there wasn’t room, so I packed it in with the rest of the quilts I was carrying over in my suitcase. And I prayed it would arrive safe and sound!

And it did. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, should I?

Anyway, here’s Luanne when I gave it to her.

For those of you who missed it the first or second time I’ve talked about this, I did get the pattern from a book by Eileen Wright called “Twist and Turn Bargello” and can be purchased from Amazon here. (affiliate link).

Once again - here is the original quilt - taken outside in our front yard in Poland. I’m so glad to get it delivered!

And that’s it! I did bring over several quilts - but really only “needed” to deliver a few of them - this one, y niece’s daughter’s and then my nephew’s quilt (The White Tiger one).

I know that many quilters actually give away a lot of their quilts, but it is especially rewarding to give something to someone who truly appreciates it!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!

Be sure to check out what my sis for you in the store!
