"Simple Rail Fence" - Geometrics 1 finished - baby/lap quilt

Well, it’s time for me to get busy finishing up all these geometrics and showing them. As I’ve been working on these, I’ve been compiling and finding my upcycled green fabrics and trying to put them together in one place so I can get going on those.

I also have a ginormous bag of 1.5” strips. Seriously! What can a person do with a bunch of what are in effect, “Honey Buns” by Moda?

Too funny! I actually want to make another Checkered quilt - on point checkered blocks - from these 1.5” strips. I really loved the blue one I made- but now I’d like to try it again in a different colorway.

Now to the Geometrics!

This whole set of Geometrics is not finished as I’m starting to show them. But I’m hoping by starting to show them, with a few detours to show or talk about other things, I’ll be able to finish up all 16 of these quilts and show them. Then they will be finished. I can do other things then. As I start writing this, of the 16, I have completely finished 8. Completely finished means - quilted and washed.

Let’s get started.

Number 1 was just about the most simple design a person can do.

A rail fence. Now this one is a 5 -rail rail fence, so it isn’t quite as simple as a 3 rail or even a 2 rail.

You can tell I have had this one folded up for a while. I should have taken pictures first. But once it starts getting used and thrown around, washed, dried, those fold lines will certainly diminish.

You can see that I did straight line echo quilting. These are simple quilts - I’m not planning on getting fancy with the quilting either.

This was the first one I did - and my selection of geometrics was at its height. You will watch the variety of geometrics go downhill by the end of the series.

As usual - the quilt roll. This quilt roll is so tiny and cute! I don’t usually make them this small and I suppose the picture sort of disguises it, but it is probably about 1/3 of a normal quilt roll for me.

I’m not really sure if the pattern is actually necessary, but I did write it up. It’s here. I am probably going to name these quilts all “Simple…” something.

I do have a page where I am documenting the entire series.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
