Emma's Unicorn Quilt Top
Both of my niece’s older daughters really wanted quilts from this same unicorn panel
Sarah’s second daughter, Joan, loves “violet” so I made her a different one using way too much purple (IMO, though I’ve been assured she will love it), but I didn’t want to do that with Joan’s older sister. I figured by the time you start school, as Emma has, you begin to develop “taste”.
I threw in the white to break up the pink - which is what she requested - the unicorn panel and pink.
I actually did put hot pink strips in there in the EQ program to see if I could stomach it, but I simply couldn’t - and I happen to also love pink. So I took it back out while quietly apologizing to the mom (Sarah- my niece), for using white in a child’s quilt. Oh well - they do have a washing machine. but It’s very sweet looking!
It wasn’t hard either. The hardest thing I’ve got to figure out now is a backing. I may piece one using up the leftover small pieces of leftover 6.5” strips which I cut in order to make those pieces that surround the panel.
A bit of a closer up so you can see the fabrics better -
Finishing this up is another one of those things on my more immediate list of things I really should do so that I can put it with the quilts to go back to the states next time we go.
And that’s it for today! Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
