Geometrics 4 - Hot Pink Framed Squares

After doing 3 quilt tops with soft pastels, I decided to go “bright and bold” with these geometrics!

I did try various layouts and decided on this hot pink and black layout:

All I did was take those 4.5” squares of chevrons and various geometrics and put a 1” hot pink frame around them. That makes the block a 6” block (6.5” before it is finished).

Then I put 3.5” black sashing between each one and a black cut 3.5” sashing strip between the rows. It was quite easy!

Here’s a close up.

Here’s the layout of what I did.

For the border I just used some of the strips of what I’d already cut into strips. You can tell because I didn’t try to fix the design on the short pieces of the chevron pattern. I thought about it but the design is printed in such a way that I couldn’t just do a quick sew across the piece. I guess that would leave an option of sewing diagonally and trying make it match. Instead I decided to just leave it and embrace the quirkiness!

And that’s all I did with this one. As you can see - These are not terribly big quilts. This one was quite a bit larger than the last couple, though. It is 56”x 74” It could be smaller, but I decided I’ll never finish these if I don’t let some of them be a little bit bigger!

My sis put together a collection of Andover geometrics just for these - should you be interested in such a pack. They are super cool!

It’s here.

So there you are! Enjoy the beauty of simplicity!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
