Cultural - a Visit to Ojcow National Park

A few days ago my husband took a quick two day trip to the south of Poland to deliver a printer to some friends of ours. I asked my husband if we could stop at this national park that I knew of that is in the southern part of Poland (just because I like it). There are amazing rock formations and we don’t have anything quite like it here in our area. I wanted to attempt a few pictures of quilts in this scenery.

This is in Ojcowski or Ojcow National Park.

This is in Ojcowski or Ojcow National Park.

So we did.

I didn’t get a whole lot of pictures because our weather was less than perfect for hiking and being outside - on one hand - On the other hand, that also meant that there weren’t a lot of people there which made it easier for my husband to fly his drone and me to get some pictures of a couple of quilts.

We did go to this park on our way home from our friends’ house - not on the way. We went down one day and back the next. I took three quilts with me on the trip so I could try to get some “lifestyle” type pictures.

I learned a few things with this - including, “It’s not that easy!” I was really, really wishing for Daniel, my youngest son, to be on my shoulder or along for the trip. Anyway, he wasn’t. He was back in FL. I was in southern Poland.

We spent some time just driving around as we were looking for a place where my husband could fly his drone as well as I could get some pictures with rocks showing.

It was almost funny since I don’t really know anything about this type of thing. However, I did come to the conclusion that I live on the back side of a regional park (In the states - a state park) and not far from us is a river. I really need to try to get some pictures locally of this sort. If I would have tried such pictures at least a few times already, I might have known a little better what to do.

Anyway, it had rained a lot the day before so I was a bit paranoid about getting my quilts in the mud. OK, ok, paranoid is a bit strong. I know these things wash. I have already washed them once.

But if you see those leaves right in the picture above - the brown things on the walkway area - well, they were still wet. And wet, matted leaves are slippery! I really didn’t like walking around in this area though it looked really cool!

I think I’ve just gotten boring. I just want to be back in my sewing room. Sigh.

My husband’s fingers got cold about when I was finished…so we were fine, actually. If you look at the picture below, you can see the drone right between the rocks. I’ll point it out. Remember…he’s practicing so you can take some decent pics when he goes to Israel this summer. (It really does take practice - I’m not exaggerating.) We were about 3.5 hours away from home.

I didn’t really bring proper props, either. I should have brought some sort of big plastic liner to protect the quilts. In that case, I would have had more options of where to put them.

Oh well! It’s a beautiful park! We more or less just “popped in”, so don’t take this as an exhaustive resource. If you want that, go here. They have a lot of beautiful pictures.

This is Poland’s smallest national park. Since I have only one really nice picture for you - well, I suppose that’s the conclusion you may come to anyway. My one picture above isn’t really fair - there were many places we could have gone and taken pictures. But after my husband lost control of the drone and it started to fly away (he got it back under control), he got a little scared and wanted to just pack it up and call it “enough” for the day. So we did. And that was fine by me!

I did get some pictures of each of the three quilts I took. I also took some pictures from the vehicle as we drove. Unfortunately most of them didn’t turn out that great - not really worth a blog post. But if you go to the link I put in above, you will see some truly beautiful shots!

And now you know!

Have a great day wherever you reading this!
