Big Fabric Haul - end of month 13 update!

Well, here I am - starting the second year of quilt tops made from the Big Fabric Haul fabrics!

Here goes.

I made 5 this month and chose to use the panther fabric for all for all of them. I mentioned buying a bolt of this fabric a couple of weeks ago on the blog - for me a bolt is around 60-70 meters!

These will all be similar. But I believe that they will be very popular because of the fun fabric on the sashing and border. I will be very surprised if they aren’t!

I cut up this whole bolt of panther fabric - I think there will be over 30 of these made like this plus I went ahead and cut up 9 backings - this fabric will also be seriously loved as backing! Many people here regularly use both sides of their quilts!

And remember, that you can see all of the tops and quilts that I’ve made from this set of fabrics in one place should you be inclined. They are here.

We paid about $400 for the whole “big fabric haul” - so at this point, for the 57 tops I’ve made so far, for the part of the tops that were from the haul, I can figure I’ve spent $7 for each one

- plus sashings, of course. That is a huge amount as well.

I will be glad to get it down to about $4 per top for the browns/blacks. Once I get to 100 tops, I’ll be feeling mighty good about the cost. Of course, I’ve been able to use tan thread and more tan thread - that won’t be necessary for me to buy at all for quite some time. Plus I’ve used up almost all of the batting that was included. (Frankly, though, the poly batting that I buy locally seems to work better than what I bought in the load so I’m kind of glad to see it get used up!)

I hope you can see the richness of this corduroy fabric - and why I am enjoying using it!

I know that when I show these blog posts showing the tops I made - there really isn’t much to them - but - I still want to show you!

It’s amazing how fast time flies! It’s hard to believe I’m starting the second year of these!

I know, I know…you see these posts every month - but I really have to do them - for myself - my own accountability and to keep me making them. I’m afraid if I didn’t force myself to post them month by month, I’d just sort of put it off. I have this secret hope to finish all these browns by the end of 2020. But if I don’t - well, nothing bad will happen! :) It’ll all be okay.
