"Simple Shadowed Basic Blocks" - Geometrics 13

This is one of those quilts made with colors that were popular back in the 80s. And I still like them. You know…”dusty rose”.

I know. I’m so “out of touch”. But I do like it. I don’t really care. If people can go all the way retro to the 50’s, then I can go to the 80’s. The thing is, I never went through a period where I didn’t like these colors. You know how often the pendulum swings from side to side and people go from liking something and then hating something…well, I never “hated these colors”. The only difference is, now that I’ve started quilting, my “like to use” colors have expanded exponentially!

It’s the same pattern as the last one - number 12.

Here are my pictures. I got up early to get these pictures. Our sunrise is now about 5:30 am so if I wait til after breakfast, even, I’m risking the sun being the wrong direction to get a good picture on these quilts. It will help when we have time change this coming weekend. It means I won’t have to get up and get out at 6:30 am to get pics!

I couldn’t decide at first if I liked the way the sun is on the quilt with the shadows it creates. But I absolutely love how sharp the pictures turned out. So, I’m leaving them as they are. Plus, I tried to take some other ones later in the afternoo…

I couldn’t decide at first if I liked the way the sun is on the quilt with the shadows it creates. But I absolutely love how sharp the pictures turned out. So, I’m leaving them as they are. Plus, I tried to take some other ones later in the afternoon and they weren’t nearly as good.

This little quilt is only 49.5” x68.5” so you know it is quick and easy. Because I used a big shadow in comparison to the block itself, it makes those pieced blocks seem to just jump off the background!

We have some colder days in the last couple of days. Now we are destined for some warmer ones. Our March and April days are always a bit in flux. It’s nice and bright and sunny in this picture but was a few degrees above freezing.

As usual - the quilt roll:

I took this one from a long distance. My camera doesn’t focus as well from a distance…but the effect was pretty cool.

We are getting close to the end of this series—this is number 13 and there only 16 in the series.

I’m ready to move on.

I did update the pictures on the Geometrics page and I have the pattern up on the Free patterns page here. Click on the links provided to get there!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
