Quilted Twins

"Cornered" top finished

I made this one from 2 Bluprint 2.5” strips rolls. They were so pretty - and unlike that other one that I used up (in Frame It!), once I opened the first one, I was very happy with what I got. It had a nice variety of colors - dusty rose, dark reds, light blue, navy blue, tans, and a cream and the prints were…well, to put it simply...lovely!

All in all, it was everything I could hope for a 2.5” strips roll.

I decided to make quarter log cabin blocks - managed to get 90 blocks out of the 2 rolls. I added the thin sashing strips and the border as a fabric I found here in Poland.

Overall, it was not difficult. The hardest part of this one was trying to get it all laid out as best as I could. Finally I just gave up and started sewing!

I’m starting to work on a 2.5” strips series - and this will go in that. I will add that while I loved the coordination and beautiful fabrics in this roll, I really do NOT like pinked edges while working with these things. I’ve heard people talk about them, but not really dealt with it until I made “Frame It” and now this one.

The blocks are 9.5” before being sewn into the quilt and I used a cut 2.5” border to go around the outside. I did sash all the blocks with a thin sashing. I just liked the look. Without the sashing it was okay - but with the sashng, it was mighty fine!

And now you know. This was pretty fast to go together - once I got going on it. I had to cut carefully to get this much out of it - there was very little waste; I did, however, not use all the strips. The lightest ones I put aside to use as the binding or some other project. I wanted fabrics darker than my sashing fabric and a few of the strips were virtually the same color as the sashing!

The little square in the corner is a cut 1.5” square.

The pattern is going to be finished and put on the free patterns page by the time the top is finished. The block looks like this should you want to get going “now”! The whole quilt is made up of this one block plus sashing. which was cut 1.5”x9.5”.

Overall, I am very pleased with this top and hope to get it quilted soon!

I trust that whatever you are doing these days - you are doing well and staying safe!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
