2020 charity quilts - #1-10

Here they are!

You’ve been following me on this journey from the first part of October - and finally I am starting to feel the rewards of that work!

As I was taking pictures, I struggled with the wind. But it’s not so freezing cold that I couldn’t handle it - but here are a few pics from that.

The first 10 charity quilts!

Below is a slideshow, so click on the arrow to advance to the next one. I’ll put if it is a donated top and if I made the top, I won’t say anything about who made it under the photo. I’ll try to remember to do that with all of these.

Then naturally I had to get a photo of the stack of them - in the house. I had a hard time finding space on the floor to get them all without the mess in the background. I’m trying to clear it out by finishing up tops as quickly as I can!

I don’t ONLY use striped fabric for bindings, but that’s how I’m starting. I’ll probably use some black tomorrow for some of the quilts I’ll be doing.

After this, I put them in the back of the van. Once again, I am so grateful for this minivan.

When we decided to buy a different vehicle several years ago now, I had wanted to get a small car.

But common sense took over - for which I’m grateful. I couldn’t carry a roll of batting or a whole lot of quilts in a small car.

I’m so thankful for this vehicle!

There’s plenty of room for up to forty quilts at once (or more!) - without a problem. Ten is a piece of cake!

I drove to the church - and took this picture at 2:16 pm. Yes. 2:16 pm.

From the time the sun comes up, it feels like it’s a race til sunset. Today, which was Tuesday, Nov. 24, sunset was at 3:32 pm, which means it’s starting to feel dark-ish as early as this - esp. on a cloudy day.

Then I got them to the church property - which is only about a 5 minute drive if there isn’t much traffic.

I then took them upstairs to the storage area where I will keep them out of the way and out of sight until we are ready to distribute them. I don’t have a problem going up and getting some to give away, however, should the need/opportunity arise.

The ones on the right pile are children’s - though I’ve certainly seen ladies (without children) take the owl ones for themselves! The other two piles are more or less adult/teen quilts, though of course I don’t tell someone what they have to get. …

Then, just so I can keep track better this year, I added the ten to the pad of paper I am leaving in the room. Current status is as shown:

All that scribbling - means simply that there are currently 38 quilts in the room plus 90 tops in the bins and 78 queen size tops in the wardrobe (that’s the word szafa). I’m trying to keep better track from now on so I can know what I have and wha…

I’m trying to keep better track from now on so I can know what I have and what I need to do. I can more easily make goals if I know what I have to work with.

On my way out the door, taking a peek back!!!

Peek-a-boo!

At the end of each of these summary photo reports, I’ll add the overall look photo and leave the old ones so you can see as the piles grow.

And now you know!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!

I’ve got to start preparing for our family Thanksgiving dinner. My husband is teaching so things will be a bit “busy”. He has to get an early start teaching due to the fact that the students are in the Ukraine and they are one hour ahead of us - so he starts teaching at 7 am our time. This means breakfast about 6:15 or 6:30 am.

(He’s teaching to seminary students in the Ukraine using Zoom. This course will be about preaching the gospel from the Old Testament just in case you are curious.)

If you need something for your projects, be sure to check out what we have in the store!

Here’s a pretty panel! Check it out! This one is By Timeless Treasures!
