Been sewing and sewing!
The last couple of days I’ve been trying to put the pedal to the metal. I had hoped to finish adding borders to all the small quilt tops that we had been given by October 1. Unfortunately I just had too many and didn’t get it done. But I’m almost done now.
I have two left.
This is what my pile looks like - well, these aren’t all of them - these tops are waiting for a final press and then are ready to be folded up into my piles of quilt tops.
I will eventually show you what I’ve done with all of them - but you can see this first one - just a hint of what I’m doing. I was given the middle part with the little Around the World pattern. However, it was only about 25” square. I started adding to it. Eventually when I finish all of these and show you - after taking pictures and hanging them up I can more easily show the whole quilt—I will indicate what the original part I was given and so you can see what I did. I’ve been having fun with them.
Then I took 10 of the larger tops that Fran sent me and I’ve added two borders to them to make them a nice queen size. I added a 2.5” strip and then a 6.5” border. That’s what this pile is. I’ll be pressing these during our “cheap time” (we have a two tiered system of fees for our electricity). I try to do this kind of thing during the cheap time. Thankfully all weekend from Friday at 10 pm til Monday morning at 6 am is included in this!
In the meantime, I did get another request for yet ANOTHER 8 charity quilts from the school I went to in March. So hopefully today (the day you are reading this), I’ll be delivering those.
And that’s the main part of what I’ve been doing. As I mentioned, I’m trying to focus as best as I can in order to get these borders on.
And that’s what’s new for me from my sewing room!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
