Some Days are Like That!

Blah!

Not exciting.

Nothing great happening.

Dinner was only “ok”.

Some people have the idea that somehow" “others” have more exciting lives than they do. I believe that’s why we consume social media so voraciously! We are all looking to have excitement and if we have to do it vicariously - well, then, that’s fine too.

As for me - today was one of those days.

I did nothing exciting. I finished nothing extraordinary!

I stayed in and sewed. I worked on charity quilts.

I quilted two. (I’m up to 22/120).

I worked on something for Rachael on the website.

I sandwiched three more charity quilts (I have 12 extra at the moment!).

I sewed seams down two large pieces of fabric several times to make 7 large backings for when I want to do my “large/queen/double charity quilts” (I want to make up 20 or 30 such backings so when I start sandwiching my larger quilts the backings will be ready to go.).

I worked on cutting out three more sets of borders for charity quilts from Fran’s tops - I have over 100 such little centers! Can you believe it? I’m embarrassed about that - and decided that I must finish these all during 2020 - hopefully my elves will be able to help me! I don’t mean that they need to be quilted - just that I want to add borders to the tops - am using up some interesting children’s fabrics I am finding!

Note: I had thought I had a LOT of children’s quilts - so these tops were put into the “not needed quite yet category" - but then I gave 30 quilts to one boarding school for the hard of hearing/deaf children this year and suddenly my “children’s quilts” have almost all evaporated. Yikes! How did that happen?

I fixed dinner - even it was only “ok” - not wonderful.

I cleaned it up.

I fed the cats.

I went to check out my pile of backings that I had already cut up and matched them to some of the charity quilt tops I have chosen to finish up this year (at least 120 - maybe 130 or 140 - depending). I evaluated what I am going to need to finish out the year’s backings - now that I’ve sandwiched 34 and have matched up at least another 20 or 30 with the backings I have. I saw what color of fabric I need to buy that would work best with the tops I have chosen to work on this year.

And so on.

Oh - the most exciting thing we did today was go over to the garden right after dinner and pick up all the rest of the green pumpkins and put them on the front entrance way.

We got 13 small ones - but they are green - not even exciting! I do think some of them are mature, in spite of being green, if I take the “tap on them and they sound hollow, the skin is hard and the little curlicue closest to the pumpkin stem is dry” as telltale signs of maturity.

So there you go - not even a wonderfully “can’t wait to tell you about it day” - as there was really not a lot to say - not implying I lay in bed all day - but rather that what I did was just “ordinary” stuff - and you already know about what I do!

So there you go! I do have such days (many of them, in fact) - as I know everyone does!

But I trust you can have a wonderful day no matter where you are or what you are doing!

But, if you want or need some excitement in your life, be sure to check out what Rachael has for you over at the website - here!
