Noble Families #4 update - Mom and daughter packages delivered

This next family group consisted of a mom and daughter - both special needs. They live in one room which is part of an apartment apparently owned by the mom’s parents. The parents are quite elderly. When I asked the volunteer if they needed any help, the volunteer said, “No, not really.”

So, I let it go. It is possible they have no room for anything.

Anyway, I did these two ladies first as their needs were quite modest. I spent the least on them. Their biggest needs were a wardrobe and two upper cabinets. We got both of those for them along with many miscellaneous things plus food and cleaning supplies.

I tried to imagine/remember what it was like when we had absolutely no room (lived in a trailer) and thought that maybe I could upgrade some of the things they had so they could throw out the old things (like towel sets and a new frying pan) but I gave them a lot of food and cleaning supplies. The daughter got some clothing. Let me show you their finished presents.

I gave each of them a set of towels, duvet cover, and new duvet, a new pillow and socks. Each lady also got a warm blanket - microfiber. Because they live in such a small place, I did not give them a quilt in addition since I didn’t know if they had extra room. Because they live in an apartment, it doesn’t get as cold as when people live in stand-alone houses.

Their most important things were the free standing wardrobe and the two hanging cupboards which we got for them.

You can see them in the photo below - the boxes that are standing up and down below to the right of the colorful packages are the wardrobe pieces.

The ones that are in front of them are the upper cabinet doors and body of the cabinet.

I did not hear back from the volunteers about this family, but I’m okay with this.

In this picture, the firemen are loading these packages up in order to take them to the family.

They had 29 packages - but that upper cabinet was 6 packages because each body was one box and each door was one box, so that two cabinets consisted of 6 boxes. I had to number each of them.

I know that one of the two volunteers was also consumed with the death of the wife of the husband/wife as she also had that family. So, she had a lot going on.

We did not go visit these ladies. However, the wardrobe that we bought them was nice - so I’m quite happy with it and what we got for them. I did add a few fun things that they didn’t ask for like kitchen towels and a nice purse for the mom. The daughter (grown daughter) got some makeup in a set someone gave me and some extra clothes that I had from last year in her size.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Thanks for coming along with me on my quilting/sewing journey!
