November 2021 Strips report

Before I go to the Strips update, let me update you on the Noble Packages!

Rachael told me that I NEED to keep you updated - and not to be afraid to do so. So, I will.

Yesterday you helped me get what I needed for the brother/sister combination - thank you so very much!

I then had enough by bedtime that I didn’t know what else to buy them that would be actually useful.

So…I did “backsies”.

I discussed it with my sister. I chose another family.

This is a family of 10 - who about a month ago lost their home and everything in it to a fire!

They live about 50 minutes from us away from “the city” (Warsaw) - but their needs are great.

They are now sleeping in an empty unfinished house which they had started building on the property.

They live on a small farm. There are mom and dad and 6 children - several of whom are special needs children - Plus the grandmother (70 y/o) and a handicapped son (40) who live in a small room separate from the family - but all in the unfinished house. The dad, 55 years old, holds the family together through his work. Two of the older girls find work as they can but their disabilities limit them somewhat. The mom is 49 and struggles a bit with the 6 children with her own limitations.

What they have asked for is a table and 8 chairs - so they can eat together, pantry staples and cleaning supplies.

People have given them a fridge and a gas oven/range and some other things but the smaller things in the kitchen they need - flatware, microwave, dishes, pots and pans, etc.

They just didn’t want to ask for too much - I know, lest they overwhelm someone. Since it is 10 people!

So….we are going to see what we can do.

If you want to contribute to this very needy family - you can do so here.

We have finished the other families with the money you gave. I am so grateful for all you gave for the brother/sister. I was able to get them the technology I wanted to get them - I appreciate you so much. I had thought I would need to spend the rest of my time focusing on that family, but I don’t. We “got it”. (My husband helped me!)

But, if this story speaks to you - please consider helping. Here’s the link once again.

To help a needy family in poland - lost everything to a fire a month ago

Anyway…back to my original post for today. About my strips that I’m cutting up!

I started out strong in the month - and then kind of fell off.

See..you can see more scraps in front of this box…more green pieces. I’m getting to those!

I will admit, the reason it fell off is because I started focusing on the green scraps box - and look at how that looks now!

Don’t be disillusioned - it’s not that I don’t have any more greens to trim up but the big clear bin is now empty. And that feels very good.

Those greens were turned into bags with 1.5”, 2”, and 2.5” strips. I’ve already emptied out the bag with the 2.5” strips into another top I’m working on currently.

Of course, as I work on greens, I am constantly making more and more scraps. I am trying to just go ahead and cut them into the strips as needed now that I’m working on some more tops.

ANYWAY…back to the point of this post.

So here’s what I did.

These are the 2.5” strips: 1.87 lbs.

Here are the 2” strips: 1.43 lbs.

Here are the 1.5” strips: .55 lb.

Those almost 2 lbs. is about the same as 2 - 2.5” strips rolls or 2 Jelly Rolls. This time it’s nothing very revolutionary, is it? But at $35 per roll, maybe it is something! Just consider….how much are your scraps really worth?

This means that so far this year this is where I stand.

This also means that since I started keeping track.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Thanks for coming along with me on my quilting/sewing journey!
