"Hanging Birdhouses"
This quilt is number 72 in my 2” series of quilts using a lot of 2” squares and strips!
I actually finished this one quite a while ago now but have never featured it because I didn’t have the pattern written - or the photos taken and ready to go!
This one features 16 patches of scraps with a couple of shadow effects - one on either side of the 16 patches - put on point.
Then I used a 4 patch for the cornerstones which then created the effect of something hanging down such as either chandeliers, or icicles, etc.
I had taken some pictures of it before we got snow - let me show you - but I had some creases in the quilt. So, I rewashed it to get rid of the creases and took it outside during the snow and took more photos. I do see, however, that the brightness of the snow kind of washed out the detail in the photos. Sadly my photographic skills work better when there is no snow - as pretty as it is when there is white all over the ground!
Let me show you the photos I took before we had snow. With creases. The creases were because I had it folded up sitting in my living room for months.
The quilt turned out very well! I like it a lot. I did use light gray as the background - not white, just in case that is how it looks.
I quilted it with swirls and curls.
Here it is - from one of the sides.
The quilt roll - because I love how they look!
I suppose in some ways this is also a lesson in how easily quilts get fold creases in them. Thankfully at least in this case, they came out in the wash.
I have too many to simply put 10 on a guest bed at a time, though that would help, I suppose! (I should try that - wonder how that would look!)
Better to move them out to new loving homes!
I did write up the pattern. It is here. I hope someone can use it!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Stay safe!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store here!
Here’s one of the beauties we have!
