Cultural - "The Puzzle"

In the past, when my kids were home, we used to do a puzzle every Christmas.

Since they left, we’ve really not been doing them

This year, when my husband was cleaning out the basement, trying to make room for his workshop, he brought up a bunch of puzzles. I went through them and kept only half. The other half I gave away to our local Freecycle group here in our town.

This was our progress on Dec. 31.

There was one that really fascinated me - and that was this one. I decided that if I was going to do it, then this year was as good as any and we broke it open between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Once I got the sky done, I started working primarily on the left side after finishing up the lake in the center.

And we just finished it! That is so crazy! It took longer than any other puzzle we have done to this date!

At first I was allowing myself only about an hour a day on it since I really didn’t want to spend all my sewing time on it.

The last couple of days I upped that because I wanted my table back. I have about 5 tops I want to sandwich. While it is possible to move all the puzzle pieces away, I was afraid of losing a piece in the process.

But this one was hard. So very hard!

My husband and I do them very differently. I work mostly by shape - and he works a lot by the design itself. Of course, I tend to get shoved off the blue skies and almost impossible sections! For me, sorting the pieces by shape is the only way I can work.

Anyway.

We are finished now. We bought some glue and glued the back today. It’s all ready now - to be put up on a wall.

Still in the wooden frame my husband made.

This was a puzzle we brought over years ago - I think I picked it up at a yard sale in the US. - It was marked 75 cents. This puzzle would have been between $25 and $30 here - if not more. It looked like a challenge - and that’s why I decided to make it.

it is really pretty! Love it!

Glued and ready to put up on the wall!

And there you go! One of the things that we’ve done over the years!

Enjoy!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
