Countdown!

Just a few days left now til I go back to Poland. It’s been a long, long 3 months. In many ways it feels like much, much longer than that. I’ve been incredibly busy. The ladies here told me I had to go back to Poland to rest! I’m sure that people in Poland think I’m sitting on the couch eating the proverbial bon-bons. Oh wait. We’re in Florida. In that case, I’m lying on the beach, getting a tan.

That’s funny.

Today I was at the store and while it wasn’t a day as busy as the fall and winter gets, for July in Dade City, FL, it was okay. We had some new customers, and that is always nice. People were friendly and it was nice talking to them.

Well, I thought I was doing pretty well to get Sarah’s daughter—Nora’s, quilt done so quickly. Then I added my brother Jon’s grandson’s quilt - and got it sewn up quickly. When you see it, you will agree with me that it wasn’t much sewing - a huge panel with a couple of small borders. Anyway, we got them both back today from the long-armer - they came into the shop with them…and they are certainly nice. It’s time now to bind them. I tell you what - I could get really used to this “making the top only” part of the quilting as that’s the really fun part for me. It is making me want a computerized long arm, for sure!

Anway…back to my story. I was in the store getting the rest of the fabric I needed for my brother Jon’ granddaughter’s quilt and they accosted me - no, that’s the wrong word - presented me, would be better, with another panel and a coordinate. “Becky, we need this one made up. I’m sure you have time before you go!”

“Oh brother!” I thought. I was kind of saving time here at the end to make up a couple of items of clothing for my granddaughters. But how could I turn the ladies down? I didn’t.

And…

“Oh Becky, Ken would like something made for his brother, Mark - he loves to hunt.”

“Well, choose a panel you want me to make up, then.” So Ken and Rachael got busy and picked out a nice big deer panel, and some coordinates. I brought them home, made up something - finished my brother’s granddaughter’s quilt top and took the two tops back to the store today (Thursday). The long-armers brought back two mentioned above and took two more tops with them. Then, after the store was over, I eventually came home and finished up that deer one that Rachael and Margaret told me I should make up. I will admit, it is very “slapped together”, but it’s done.

I hope the long-armers can get to it and still leave me time to bind it before I leave—Tuesday afternoon. This leaves me Friday during the day and Sat. to make a couple of simple dresses for my granddaughters. I made up one today already - will show later. It’s a simple pattern. It’s not that they are lacking for clothing but I wanted to make them something in some of this Polish folk fabric but first in a different fabric as a sort of test run.

So, if things are a bit scattered these days…well, that’s just how it is. Kind of crazy at the moment. I’m packing and planning and last week I was ordering a few things to take back to Poland with me. Hopefully everything will come before I go.

I haven’t stayed in the states in one place this long for literally years and years. It’s been different. I have more finish up and clean up because of being here so long! It’s been a good stay, but time is drawing nigh to leave and go home!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Stay safe!
