"Elsa" - Tropical Storm - afterwards - what happened?

Yesterday’s post was about the preparations that we Floridians make for a storm. We also have various wind bands that come by before “the storm” hits. They told us starting about 11 pm or midnight we’d really have the storm “by us”. But the storm winds come first.

As I said, yesterday a few tree branches came down in our church’s yard.

But here are a few things that showed what happened.

First of all, we did not lose power! We are most grateful!

At about 1:10 am we got a phone call to the home phone AND I got an alert on my cell phone - telling me that a tornado watch/warning was in the area. I turned on the tv and we watched the pressure system that was right in our town as meteorologists warned us that tornados could be forming. I stayed awake until the warning was in the county north of us.

Needless to say, sleep wasn’t the best. Mom’s house is well built, however, and I didn’t hear all that much wind or rain.

So…let’s see.

We got rain.

and more rain.

And today we got more rain - all together it was a total of about 3.7”.

And that’s it. Naturally, the news media kept showing the same tree that fell on a car - all day long. It didn’t appear to happen that often in our area.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Stay safe!
