The Sewin’ Shop!

This is our newest addition to the Quilted Twins shops. We have: The Fabric Shop, the Chop Shop and the Sewin’ Shop.

Each has its own place and purpose.

We opened the Fabric shop (store) first, quickly followed by the Chop Shop (where I cut up my fun packs). Then, just before COVID hit, we opened the doors to our wonderful space called the Sewin’ Shop, dedicated to all people who need a fun, organized, quiet, clean place to sew, cut, and sandwich quilts.

If you’ve never stopped in the Sewin’ Shop and you’ve been to the Fabric Shop (the main store), then you’ve missed out on a treat. This is the location where we have the Pieces Blowout every now and then! It’s down the strip center towards the end, and right next door to the Salon on the End.

The Sewin’ Shop is a fabulous place where you can pop in and sew all day, with the use of all sorts of fun aids and gadgets that you might not have at home or have the space for at home.

For just $8 per day, you can have full use of the Accuquilt, with a slew of dies. We do have TWO of them, so you can utilize one while your friend uses the other one.

We provide cutting mats, a bobbin winder, two ironing boards, two irons, several different rulers and a large table for sandwiching quilts.

This room is large enough to house a small guild, as we can seat up to 24 people at tables, or have 12 people sewing at the same time at tables. The chairs are comfy, padded, and on wheels.

In addition, our brother, Jon Tillman, came into town this past week to help take care of Mom. He has worked for an ATV company installing systems for video and sound performance, in churches, auditoriums and conference centers.

So, we asked him to take a look at our Smart TVs and find out why they didn’t seem so smart. They weren’t playing anything without the aid of a much smarter computer!

So, Jon sat down at the table, with a remote in hand, and got both of our televisions hooked up to the internet. We played a couple of youtube quilting videos to check it out!

You, too, can come, and enjoy this setup with your group or guild. You can invite a speaker and utilize our fabulous space. She or he could bring his or her powerpoint and plug into the current setup quite easily.

In addition, you can bring your lunch, if you want, because we have a full-sized refrigerator, a small freezer, and sink, along with coffee pot, and bottled water. We have a convection oven and a microwave as well, available for your use, provided you clean up (and we provide towels and dishwashing liquid for your use.)

If you want to come to sew, the best thing to do is to reserve the room online HERE. If you don’t want to, or don’t see the date available, shoot us a text. We get to texts faster than anything else, because we can answer them at super odd hours, unlike the telephone, which usually doesn’t ring at 6 a.m., and we’re often in other parts of the building at the prime calling time, and unable to hear the phone ring.

The phone number to text is: 352-507-8458. The room is available from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and at other times by request.

Bring your machine, your thread and you can purchase fabric down in the Fabric store, if you want. Tell your friends, your neighbors, and your FB friends about one of the neatest places to go to sew! Invite them to come and sew with you! The cost is just $8 per day, and you can meet new people, and learn new things.

On Tuesdays we have a den mother, Sandi, and she will help you with anything you want to know. She teaches our Beginning Quilting Class, so there’s not a lot she doesn’t know about. She’s willing to help, and if she doesn’t know, she knows how to look things up!
