Cultural: So what's to like about Florida?

Remember that I am coming back to FL after being mostly away from it for many years. We did come back for one year from 1998-1999 (when we did a lot of traveling to visit all of our supporting churches), but other than that, these three months are probably the longest I will have spent in one place other than Poland since October, 1994, when we left for Poland.

But now that I’ve been here for a while, here are a few of the things that I really DO like about Florida - besides the friendly people (in general).

The rain.

I do love a good storm. We don’t have them very often in Poland. I love it when we get a lot of rain at once. The other day there was one afternoon we got 4”. Some places got 6” - in one afternoon. That’s a terrific downpour and I opened my mom’s drapes and just watched the pouring rain.

Naturally, whenever I see a rainbow, I think of God’s promise to Noah, where He gave the rainbow as a promise to never flood the entire earth again (Genesis 9:12-16).

Our wildlife.

Sand cranes. Racoons. Lizards. These are a plenty.

Our flowers - tropical.

Our trees.

The big oak trees with Spanish moss. Just gorgeous.

We also have banana trees in mom’s back yard. Once again - who wouldn’t love something that gives you delicious tiny bananas?

And those are the first of the “things” about Florida to like that come to mind (other than the nice people).

Have a great day!

Enjoy!
